Welcome to The Squad Emily

Over the past year we have built a robust design team, that started with Taylor transitioning into a full-time Media Designer role back in the fall, and more recently Kevin coming on board as our Creative Director. Now, we're excited to introduce Emily Houze, our newest Graphic Designer!

Working alongside Kevin, Taylor, and our development team Emily produces graphics and designs for everything from websites to social media (and even some print). Only a few weeks into the job and Emily is already knocking it out of the park for our partner clients and making websites shine.

Read on to get to know more about Emily, her background in design, and her experience working at The Squad thus far.

How did you get connected with The Squad?

My mom works at Amstar which is one of The Squad's clients (The Squad designed their website which launches very soon). She raved about how nice and fun The Squad was and I asked her if they were hiring since I was about to graduate UofL with a Bachelor's in Graphic Design. I checked the website and you were hiring a graphic designer (the exact job I was looking for) - so it was kind of meant to be!

What’s one thing you love about working here so far?

Everyone has been so welcoming which makes asking questions and voicing any concerns very easy. There's also a diverse range of clients so the type of work I'm doing changes throughout the day which keeps things interesting and exciting!

What do you like to do for fun?

Go to football games, go to the lake on the weekends, watch reality tv, listen to music, go to the movies, and eat at local restaurants!

What are your passions as far as your career is concerned?

My goal in my career is to be proud of every single thing I design - from a tiny banner ad to a massive billboard to a medical infographic. Graphic design elevates everything about a brand (the writing, the product, and more). It's really important to work hard on everything I create - big or small!

Anything else people should know about you?

Both of my parents have 5 brothers and sisters who all have a thousand kids so my family is HUGE (my sister had 500+ people at her wedding). I want to fill my future home with succulents. The only sport I ever played in life was volleyball - from kindergarten to senior year of high school. And I'm a diehard UofL & Steelers fan!
