The Breeders’ Cup Festival was designed to offer the Breeders’ Cup experience to the entire community, not just those headed to the track. Organizers are mobilized each year in the host city to bring the festival to life and that’s where our relationship with Hipp Inspired and the Breeders’ Cup Festival began. Tara Hipp Guenthner approached us wanting to create a website that built excitement around the many events surrounding the races and celebrated the culture and southern hospitality of Louisville, KY.
Taking cues from the Breeders’ Cup branding we designed a mobile-responsive website that complemented the look and feel of the two-day equestrian event. We wanted to quickly connect people to the week-long calendar of events so we built an extensive events page complete with feature photos and descriptions. We couldn’t lose sight of the fact that the main event was the races, so space was given on the homepage and footer for a link to purchase tickets and the story of the Breeders’ Cup was told on the About page. The fun part was taking all of the colorful photos from Churchill Downs and other race tracks and featuring them throughout the website. The result is a website that captures the energy and enthusiasm around this annual event.
